Menu Reference

OmniWeb has a lot of menu items. What do they all do? Boy, are you in the right place. This page explains the function of each one of the menu items that appears in OmniWeb.

 Flush Cache

⌥ ⌘ U

This menu item flushes OmniWeb's memory and disk caches, including OmniWeb files in the system temporary directory.

Access available system services.

 Hide OmniWeb

⌘ H

Hide all OmniWeb windows.

 Hide Others

⌥ ⌘ H

Hide all non-OmniWeb windows.

 Show All

 

Reveal all OmniWeb and non-OmniWeb windows.

 Quit OmniWeb

⌘ Q

Close OmniWeb windows and exit the application.

 New Browser

⌘ N¬†

Create a new browser window which opens to your default start page.

 New Tab

⌘ T¬†

Create a new tab in the current window.

 New Source Document

⇧ ⌘ N¬†

Create a new source view window, with the source for a skeleton HTML page.

 Open Location...

⌘O

Open a URL, and choose how to handle the resulting page.

 Open File...

 

Open a local file, and choose how to handle the resulting page.

 Open Selected URL

 

Take the selected text, and try to open it as a URL or Shortcut in a new browser window.

 Save

⌘ S¬†

Choose a filename and save the current HTML file on disk.

 Save As.../Save As PDF...

⇧ ⌘ S¬†
⌥ ⇧ ⌘ S¬†

Choose a filename and save the current HTML file on disk, or save it as a PDF by holding the option key, as well.

¬†‣ Images...

 

Save all images that are linked to from the current page.

¬†‣ Documents...

 

Download and save all HTML files that are linked to the current page.

 Save All

⌥ ⌘ S¬†

Save all source views that are currently open.

 Revert To Saved

 

Return the source view to the last saved state.

 Send Link...

 

Send the URL of the current page to a friend via email.

 Page Setup...

⇧ ⌘ P¬†

View and adjust the paper settings, etc. for printing.

 Print...

⌘ P¬†

Print the current page.

Undo the last editing action.

Redo the last undone action.

Remove the selection, placing it into the clipboard.

Place a copy of the selection into the clipboard.

⌘ V¬†

Insert clipboard contents into the document.

 Paste From File...

 

Insert the contents of a file into the current zoomed form editor.

 Delete

 

Remove the selection without placing it into the clipboard.

 Select All

Select all the text in the current page.

 Select Previous Link

⌥ ⌘ ↑¬†

Make the previous link in the document active.

 Select Next Link

⌥ ⌘ ↓¬†

Make the next link in the document active.

⇧ ⌘ F¬†

Make the Search Field active if it is in your toolbar.

⌘ F¬†

Find text in the page or source document.

⌘ G¬†

Find next occurrence of search text in the document.

¬†‣ Find Previous

⇧ ⌘ G¬†

Find the previous occurrence of search text in the document.

Use the selected text for searching.

¬†‣ Scroll to Selection

⌘ J¬†

Scroll your view of the page until the current selection is visible.

Check your spelling.

Check your spelling, presenting the spelling dialog for suggestions.

 Go to Location

⌘ L¬†

Places the focus in the location bar, selecting it's contents so you can immediately type a new address.

 Stop Load

⌘ .¬†

Interrupt the currently loading page.

 Reload

⌘ R¬†

Reload the current page.

 Load All Images

⇧ ⌘ I¬†

Load images in the current page that have not been loaded yet.

 View in Source Editor

⇧ ⌘ V¬†

View the current page in the Source Editor.

 Bigger Text

⌘ +¬†

Increase the size of any text in the current page.

 Smaller Text

⌘ -¬†

Decrease the size of any text in the current page.

¬†AutoFill Set▶

 

Select the active set to be used by AutoFill.

 AutoFill Form

⌥ ⌘ A¬†

Fill any possible values in the current form with values from the current AutoFill set.

 Save Form for AutoFill

 

Save the values you have filled in for the current form, to be used by AutoFill in later forms.

 Show/Hide Toolbars

 

Shows or hides all toolbars.

Show the Navigation bar.

Show the Location Field as a separate toolbar.

Display a sheet with customization options for the Navigation bar.

Open the Tab drawer, or close it when it's already open.

 Show/Hide Page/Bookmark Info

⌘ I¬†

Show or hide information about components of the current page or currently selected bookmark.

 Show/Hide Status Bar

⌘ \¬†

Show or Hide the Status bar

¬†Text Encoding▶

 

¬†‣ Use Character Set Provided by Server

 

Trust the server when it tells OmniWeb what character set a page uses.

¬†‣ Encoding Submenus

 

Specify an encoding to use for the current browser tab.

Add or remove the current page from the marked items in History.

Go to the previous marked page in History.

Go to the next marked page in History.

 History Items

 

Your most recently-visited pages for the current day.

 History grouped by date

 

All of your History items, grouped into folders by date.

 Show History

 

Display the History bookmarks collection.

 Clear History

 

Remove all items from your History.

 Show/Hide Bookmarks Page/Window

⌘ B¬†

Show the interface for viewing and editing bookmark information.

 Add to Bookmarks[...]

⌘ D¬†

Add the current page to the default location in your bookmarks file.

 Open Next Changed Bookmark

⌥ ⌘ C¬†

Open the next bookmark that has been marked as changed.

 New Bookmarks File...

 

Create a new collection to store bookmarks in.

 Import Bookmarks...

 

Import bookmarks from another browser.

 Synchronize Bookmarks Now

 

This item appears only when Bookmark Synchronization is enabled in the Bookmarks preferences and allows you to tell OmniWeb to immediately synchronize your bookmarks with the server version.

All of your Personal Bookmarks are listed here, and your Favorites are listed in a submenu.

 Show Workspaces

Open the Workspaces window.

 New Workspace

^ ⌘ N¬†

Create a new workspace and switch to it.

 Delete Workspace

^ ⌘ W¬†

Get rid of the current workspace entirely and switch to the next one.

 Next Workspace

^ ⌘ →¬†

Switch to the next workspace.

 Previous Workspace

^ ⌘ ←¬†

Switch to the previous workspace.

 Take Snapshot

^ ⌘ T¬†

Save a snapshot of the current state of the workspace.

 Restore Snapshot

^ ⌘ R¬†

Restore the current workspace to its stored snapshot state.

 Workspace List

 

All available workspaces are listed here and each one is assigned an F-key (F1 through F8) for quickly switching to that workspace.

Shrink the current window into the Dock.

 Zoom Window

Expand the window to view more of the page.

Switch the view to the next tab.

Switch the view to the previous tab.

 Close Tab

Close the current tab, and switch the view to the previous tab.

 Downloads

View the Downloads window.

 Network Activity

⇧ ⌘ A¬†

View the Network Activity window.

 Error Log

⇧ ⌘ L¬†

View the Error Log window.

 JavaScript Console

⇧ ⌘ J¬†

View the JavaScript Console.

 Bring All to Front

 

Bring all application windows to the front.

 Save Window Size

 

Use the size and position of the current window as the default when opening new windows.

 Window List

 

A list of all open browser windows. Selecting a window from the list switches to that window.
